Has anyone here got multifocal contact lenses and how long did it take you to get used to them? I’m finding that I can see objects in the middle distance really well and my close up vision is acceptable but my long distance vision seems quite blurry. I’ve only had them in for 3 hours or so and am due to take them out in another hour but I so want…[Read more]

    • I tried them for a week and found they didn’t actually improve my eyesight so I went back to my previous arrangement – my eyes adjusted really quickly but they generally do 🙂

I’ve had them for about 6 months and they have made a huge difference to me. I wore contact lenses before.

I have variofocal lenses that I use from time to time – I was warned that it would take a while to get 100% used too them, I also took time to get used to variofocal glasses. Now I go between the two – lenses for a night out when I don’t want to take glasses with me and I usually wear my glasses for work. I hope your optician told you that it…[Read more]

Thanks @kelly I wore contacts for years and years until my eyeballs apparently changed shape and I gained the perfect vision I’d lacked since childhood! Now old age has kicked in and I fancied ditching the reading glasses that make me feel so old I have a follow up appointment in two weeks and I might try the single vision lens next time to see…[Read more]

    • I loved mine for years, right from the beginning. But I have found that not all opticians get the prescription right first time. My optician was on holiday when I went for one check-up, the newly qualified optician that I saw ‘adjusted’ my prescription so that I could see to the moon but couldn’t read a book. Fortunately my usual optician had only…[Read more]

Yes, I don’t think the prescription can be right because I wouldn’t be able to drive safely with them in and that’s not a step forward! I shall keep wearing them for a while longer and ask them to change the prescription when I go in for the check in two weeks. I so want them to work so that I can ditch the old lady glasses on a chain look.

    • Following with interest.

I have short sight, with bad astigmatism in one eye so am currently on one astigmatic lens and one regular lens. However due to being generally decrepit and falling apart, I also now need reading glasses. I would love to have lenses that did it all… will ask the optician at next visit
