  • You have my sympathy, had this exact thing last year, the pain was unbearable, morphine etc made no difference.
A different Doctor gave me Diazepam (Valium) and it went away really quickly never to return thank goodness.
Has your Doctor given you a diagnosis that its spasms that you have, because I am surprised that he hasn’t given you a muscle relaxant.

  • sar replied to the topic I've given up diet drinks in the forum Health 1 week ago

I rarely drink anything fizzy. Sets off my reflux, I’ve never been much of a diet drinker anyway.

  • I was on a much lower reading than you, my reading was too low to read! I started at 5,000, with Vitamin D3 5000 Iu, 240 Softgels, by Now vitamins. After a few weeks I upped it to two tablets, so 10,000 Iu.

The next test from my doctor, after 4 months I was low side of normal. I stayed on 10,000 all winter, tested as OK, so dropped to 5,000 for…[Read more]

I had this about 5 years ago from running in the wrong trainers and it was agony. The only thing I’ll say that helped along side some exercises for it was acupuncture – I had two sessions a week on it for a few months and although expensive, it really worked.

  • sar replied to the topic How to get rid of Norovirus in the forum Health 2 weeks, 6 days ago

I have a legit phobia of viruses like this so going to be avoiding this thread from here on out! Had Norovirus once though- @guy actually you shouldn’t be consuming sugary things like lemonade as it ‘feeds’ the bug in your stomach etc.

Please ensure you stay out of society for at least 48 hrs after your last vomiting episode!
    good luck! x

The Shipwreck Bar, South Friars Bay, St Kitts. Not as surreal as the Three Stags Head (a pub from Discworld) but with better weather.

I’m sure everyone has a Three Stags story.
Mine was a late Saturday afternoon after bouldering session. Went in with my dog who joined the pack of lurchers running a relay round the bar. Some tables piled up with p…[Read more]

There was one in the back end of Salford where some of my boxing mates used to go and it was full of dubious characters, until eventually it got fire-bombed. Gang wars I was told!

  • Transfer them via USB cable to your tablet/laptop/computer just in case, but you should be able to transfer phone to phone with the right USB/lead. Or load them onto utterz, Facebook, Photobucket or similar hosting website.

Are they actually thorough, because for about £10/hour you can pay someone to clean your house and they’ll also do a superficial job and hoover round easily moveable items.

  • Echinacea and vitamin c plus a good cough medicine…hope you’re feeling better soon.

  • This really gets my goat.
If buying at an auction (which it usually is with eBay) you wouldn’t go back to the auction house and ask for a refund would you!!?? So why do people think that private auction sellers are a shop? 😡

Unfortunately eBay usually finds in the buyers favour, sorry OP.
But do contact eBay if you consider them to be r…[Read more]

  • There’s no risk here. I’d take it out of the freezer and pop it in the fridge as soon as you can. Then, keep an eye on how it’s defrosting. If totally defrosted, just take out of the fridge Sunday night as it will need a good 8 hours to get to room temp throughout. If it’s not fully defrosted by Sunday midday, take it out then. Just pop it…[Read more]

  • sar replied to the topic Cataract Surgery in the forum Health 3 weeks, 6 days ago

No details yet. Saw consultant during week who said he was putting me on the waiting list, so no date yet, he thought probably about 3 months. Concerning recovery, I was looking at the NHS site which advises against hard physical exercise for a few weeks?. I suppose I’m concerned about booking any holiday in case it falls too soon after the op…

@oldman Expect to be driving again within a few days. Is this what you’ve been advised? What’s made you worried about recovery?

  • @em Toxic and explosive is rarer than low oxygen but I have seen it more times than I would like.
Often things are fine until you disturb the old sludge in the bottom of the chamber leading to a release of Hydrogen Sulphide. The problem with that lovely gas is you only smell it for a second before your nasal receptors are burned out to it and I…[Read more]

Not cheap at £350 plus vat for a BW 4 gas unit but it might save your life.
There can be lots of rotted vegetation or human waste in tunnels and old sewers and walking through it can and will release poisonous and explosive gas.

I had 4 out at once-and without sedation as I refuse GAs unless necessary. It tok 24 hours or so for the local to wear off and then it hurt but I was fine on OTC drugs. I felt lousy for about 3 days-like I’d been in a fight and then just a little discomfort around eating for a while.hope you heal quickly and it doesn’t impact on your Christmas too much.

  • Never buy new furniture.
Ebay is great, local FB pages…bay. I got an almost new bed for £20, they were moving and it was cheaper to sell at a loss than store and pay for removal.
The only thing I would buy new if I could not get secondhand is 1600rpm spin washing machine. They save a fortune in money drying clothes and time. These are the very…[Read more]
