  • Home Insurance - To Claim or Not to claim?
We've got a bit of a structural problem affecting our conservatory but NOT, repeat NOT the house.

The hot, dry summer appears to have shrunk the soil under a corner of the conservatory and there is visible evidence with distortion of the UPVc windows and a gap between the dwarf wall and the window frame.

We decided to wait to see if wetter weather would help to remedy the situation but it has not.

I am loathe, at this stage, to refer it to our insurance company in case it opens a can of worms with talk of subsidence etc.

Ideally I would like to be able to talk to somebody who is well clued up as to how insurance companies might regard such a matter.

I don't really want to be in the position of having to declare "subsidence" every time I renew the insurance.

Is there anyone out there please?
